Why are my SMS/text messages limited to 140 characters?

Be brief with your text messages as they include a short link people can click for the full detail.

The character limit for a single SMS message is 160 characters. However, when you send out a text message from your message center, we limit you to 140 characters so that we can include an automatic short link that people can tap to get the full details. 

In the "Message" part of your broadcast, be concise, but informative giving people just enough information so they'll click the link to see the full details on your website. The "Details" part of your broadcast is not only used for the body text of the email that is sent out (if applicable), but it is also automatically posted to your website for text users to get to when they want to read the full detail of your communication.
